Chaga mushrooms grow only in the colder parts of the northern hemisphere. They are a medicinal mushroom with benefits to almost every system in your body. You can use them to make a tea with a pleasant woody flavour, or grind the chunks and mix them in your coffee, smoothies, or other food.

To make Chaga Tea:

Bring to a boil 1L of water. Add in 1-2 Chaga chunks (40g) and let simmer until dark like coffee. This can take anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours depending on the number and size of chunks.for 20min. You may want to strain the tea into a cup. Cool the remaining tea and store in the fridge for a few days, or freeze in ice-cube trays for later consumption. You can also reuse each chunk several times, simply re-brew it until the water no longer becomes dark. We have found they brew best if allowed to dry out between batches.

Once the package has been opened, keep chaga chunks in the fridge or freezer. The can go mouldy :(

Regarding the responsible consumption of Chaga Mushrooms:

In laboratory studies chaga has been shown to demonstrate anti-cancer activity as well as anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and immune-stimulating properties, according to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.  It is sometimes used for pain relief. Always consult a health care provider before trying a medicinal plant, especially if you take medicines or have a health condition, because consuming it may lead to unwanted effects.
